Our ethical commitment
At Stochasense, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics and privacy in all our research and learning design initiatives. We believe in fostering a safe, respectful, and transparent environment for everyone involved. Our commitment is to ensure the dignity, autonomy, and well-being of all participants, particularly neurodivergent individuals and vulnerable groups.

Ethical foundations
Stochasense is a UK-based, research-led initiative committed to ethical, responsible, and neuro-affirming approaches to learning design. All our work is guided by established principles from educational research, human–computer interaction, and inclusive design. We prioritise dignity, autonomy, and safety for all participants, particularly neurodivergent individuals and vulnerable groups.
• Voluntary participation at all stages
• No clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic claims
• No collection of sensitive or medical data
• Anonymised, aggregated insights only
• Ethical review before any participant-facing studies

Research phase clarification
Stochasense is currently in an exploratory research and consultation phase. At this stage, we are gathering high-level insights from educators, practitioners, and lived experience. It is important to note that we are not delivering clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic interventions, nor are we making claims about learning outcomes or effectiveness. Any future studies involving participants will follow appropriate ethical review and governance processes.

Data & privacy
We follow a data-minimisation approach: only essential information is collected, participation in surveys or volunteering is entirely optional, no sensitive personal or medical data is requested, and no data is collected without a clear purpose. Survey responses are used solely to inform responsible research directions and design considerations.

Consent & transparency
Participation is always voluntary, and participants may withdraw at any time. We aim to communicate clearly how insights are used and findings may be shared in anonymised, aggregated form for research and learning purposes.

Future work
As Stochasense evolves, any research involving direct interaction with neurodivergent learners, observational studies, or prototype testing will be designed in alignment with recognised ethical standards and, where appropriate, reviewed by relevant ethics committees.
